Denis Law said he was Scotland's best ever; Jimmy Greaves said he was the best he played with; George Best said he was "the hardest man I have ever played against – and certainly the bravest"; Eddie Bailey said he was the most skillful player he'd worked with until Hoddle turned up.
Fantastic skills and he'd run through brick walls for his team, but when you met him you were surprised he wasn't bigger - about 5'8".
The picture of him grabbing Bremmner is fantastic.

I'm not saying he was good by any stretch, far from it. Just like I'm not saying Drunken Duncan was better than Denis Law. But players like Dailly and Ferguson make football worth watching in their own way. Especially when you particularly enjoy gallows humour.
